Before clubs, before salons, people would gather and talk in the kitchen. Whether about their day, international events, or just about the quality of the food they're eating, the kitchen has always been where people gather to kvell, kvetch, and, of course, nosh. In my kitchen, I hope to wow you with my own recipes, my experiences with the recipes of others, and (as a foreign policy wonk-to-be) my take on international events. When I'm not analyzing events in Russia or making an utter mess of my kitchen, you can find me reading, tormenting my family with terribly corny jokes, hiking, playing video games, going to museums, thinking about getting up early, or going to the opera
As an international affairs specialist, I have found that food is a universal language. Whether you're communicating through your hands, disagreeing about political and moral systems, or simply explaining why the other person is wrong for not laughing at your joke, we can all get behind a good meal. And, more often than not, meals (and what's in them) can tell a story.
I have been cooking for a long time, but that doesn't mean that you need a ton of cooking experience to follow my recipes. I work to make my recipes interesting for advanced cooks and still accessible for beginners. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask by sending a message or posting a comment.
